South Africa
South Africa haven’t qualified for a World Cup since they hosted the tournament in 2010, where they went out at the group stage. South Africa have benefited from the World Cup’s expansion to 48 teams but look the weakest side in Group A on paper. Burnley forward Lyle Foster is the strongest player on their roster, and he will need to perform is they want to progress to the knockout stages.
South Korea
South Korea have a strong history of qualifying for World Cups, playing in each of the previous 10 tournaments since 1986. They reached the round of 16 at the 2022 World Cup, before losing to Brazil. Son Heung-min, Hwang Hee-chan, and Kim Min-jae will be key players for South Korea at the 2026 World Cup.
Czechia
Czechia are second favorites to win Group A, behind Mexico. This is the first time Czechia have qualified for the World Cup since 2006, they were eliminated at the group stage on that occasion. Forward Patrik Schick is a key player for Czechia, he was their joint top goal scorer at Euro 2020 with five goals.
