Given the World Cup expansion to 48 teams, it’s officially harder than ever to reach the World Cup final, given that teams must now progress through another knockout round. To reach the final, nations must progress past the group stage and then win four knockout ties.
Spain to Reach the World Cup Final Odds
Odds: +230
Perhaps surprisingly, Spain have only reached one World Cup final in their history, from 15 appearances at the tournament. This final came in 2010, where they defeated Netherlands to win their first World Cup. Spain haven’t progressed further than the quarter-final stage in the three tournaments since that victory, but did win Euro 2024, defeating Germany, France, and England along the way.
France to Reach the World Cup Final Odds
Odds: +275
France have featured in four World Cup finals in their history, with each of these finals coming since 1998. Les Bleus have impressively reached the final in four of the previous seven World Cups, including the last two. France were defeated by Argentina in the 2022 World Cup final, and lifted the trophy themselves in 2018.
England to Reach the World Cup Final Odds
Odds: +330
England haven’t played in a World Cup final since 1966 - their sole appearance in the fixture. Since then, England have reached the quarter-final stage on five occasions, and the semi-finals twice. The Three Lions’ roster for the 2026 World Cup is missing several key names, including Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, with some brave omissions from new manager Thomas Tuchel. England reached the Euro 2024 final, but this was under the previous manager, Gareth Southgate.
Argentina to Reach the World Cup Final Odds
Odds: +450
Argentina have played in six World Cup finals, with three victories and three final defeats. They are the current champions, having defeated France on penalties in the 2022 World Cup to mark their first World Cup win since 1986. Argentina have reached the final in two of the last three World Cups, losing to Germany in the final in 2014. This is set to be legendary player Lionel Messi’s final World Cup for Argentina.
Brazil to Reach the World Cup Final Odds

Despite Brazil’s rich soccer history, they haven’t played in a World Cup final since 2002, with four quarter-final defeats and a semi-final elimination since then. However, they have still won the World Cup on five occasions, more than any other nation, and have appeared in seven World Cup finals. Brazil have a talented roster for the 2026 tournament, as well as an excellent manager in Carlo Ancelotti.

Germany have featured in more World Cup finals than any other nation, competing in this fixture on eight occasions, winning four and losing four of these finals. Germany have reached the final in five of their last 11 World Cup appearances, but were eliminated in the group stage in both 2018 and 2022. Their roster perhaps lacks the firepower of the great German sides of the past, but they still possess plenty of talent in Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala, and Kai Havertz up top.
